• TYPE LOCALITY. Sweden.
• RANGE. The entire Palaearctic Region except for the extreme north and south.
• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Ssp. napi (Linnaeus, 1758) (= napaeae Esper, [1804]; = intermedia Krulikowsky, 1890) - the European part; ssp. muchei Eitschberger, [1984] - Tian-Shan, Ghissar, S. Ghissar, Darvaz, Alai, Dzhungarsky Alatau.
• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Valley landscapes of various types, commonly on cultivated lands, up to 3,000 m a.s.1. in the mountains. Flight period: April-September in two or three generations. Larvae feeding on various Brassicaceae (Barbarea, Sisymbrium, Sinapis, Capsella, Armoracia, Brassica, etc.), often damaging vegetable crops (Nekrutenko, 1990; Gorbunov, Korshunov, 1995). Pupa hibernating.
