• TYPE LOCALITY. "Ragusa" [Sicily].
• SYNONYMS: narcaea Freyer, 1828.
• RANGE. S. Europe, Asia Minor, Iran, Transcaucasia.
• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The Caucasus Minor, the Armenian Highland - ssp. detersa Verity, 1911; Talysh - ssp. elbursina Bytinski-Salz, 1937 (= alterelbursina Verity, 1937).
• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Various xerophytic habitats in the mountains at 1,000- 2,000 m a.s.1. Flight period: May-September in two generations. European host plant: Aethionema.
• SIMILAR SPECIES. P. rapae: wings not produced; UPS markings intensive. P. pseudorapae: larger; UPF apical dark spot reaching the vein Cu2.
