• TYPE LOCALITY. China.
• RANGE. From mountains of Middle Asia and Afghanistan across India and China to SE. Asia and Japan.
• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. The nominate subspecies is likely to be found in the S. Ussuri region; in Middle Asia (Tian-Shan, Ghissar, S. Ghissar, Darvaz, Alai) - ssp. palaearctica (Staudinger, 1886).
• TAXONOMIC NOTES. Populations from SE. Asia differ greatly from those from Central Asia, the latter possibly warranting full specific rank.
• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Preferring mountain meadows and humid canyons within a wide range of altitudes (1,000-3,000 m a.s.1.). Flight period: April-September in two or three generations.
• SIMILAR SPECIES. P. rapae: UPF apical spot not reaching the vein Cul.
